My Personal Intentions for This Site

To Be Bold, Provocative and Controversial.

I want to shake people out of their programmed ways of thinking. It would delight me to no end if one of you told me, "I never thought about it that way before." Wishy-washy statements tend to get ignored—so at times I will say things people hate.

In my life I have tried to take a balanced point of view. There aren’t many controversial subjects where I can’t see the merits of both sides. (If you ever need a devil’s advocate, I’m your girl.) Writing this site has forced me to take a stand. I don’t know if the ideas presented here are “the truth” but I intend to present them as if they are. No more waffling.

To Deepen the Lessons for Myself.
I think the cliché “You teach best what you most need to learn,” is certainly true for me. After so many years playing with these ideas, I know many of them on a visceral level. Having to explain them to others is pushing me towards greater clarity and encouraging me to incorporate them even more deeply into my life.

To Practice Being Uncommonly Honest.
Ever since my time at the Option Institute, I have worked on being uncommonly honest. Like many of you, I didn’t grow up in a home where people freely said what was really going on with them. I want to use this website to test myself on exactly how honest I can be while not shoving my loved ones into the public eye or putting myself in harm’s way. This can be tricky because any time I mention someone, friends and family will know who I’m talking about. I will do my best to be diplomatic while staying true to what I think and feel. If I don’t, I’m sure I’ll hear about it.

To Become a Better Writer and Find My Voice.
I don’t think I’m a naturally gifted writer (my mother would disagree), but I want to improve. Eventually, I want to find my own style that is uniquely me.

To Make Money.
There, I said it. Here’s a humbling secret — I have never supported myself financially. I moved straight from my parents’ home into the one my husband and I shared. I’m hoping this site will assist me in making my dream of being a fully-independent woman a reality. I'm going to give the donation route a shot for a while. I also plan on selling ebooks in the future. If neither of those bring in enough, I'll have to accept advertising. (That's not a threat, just a reality.)

If you have benefited and enjoyed the site, please consider making a donation. Every little bit will help.
